2. Take ‘card’ Gerber data as an example to import. First use the command ‘automatic import’ in CAM350 to import the Gerber data, as shown in figure 1:


Click File → Import → Auto Import in figure 1 to enter in to figure 2:



Click Next in figure 2 to enter into figure 3


Figure 3 shows the note of some commands .

Digits: select according to the format when the pcb is transformed into Gerber data,like we usually  say 3:3, 2:5.

Apply to all: check this you can make adjustment all at once, for example, if the format is English 2:5,we only need set one layer into 2:5 and then check this, click ‘OK’, then it is adjusted all at once.

There is no need to reset and adjust, if the option in figure 3 is ‘automatic import’, you can use standard settings. If there is something wrong with the imported Gerber data, click the red circle to make some adjustment. Please set all the option and then click ‘OK .

Associated Settings while drilling,as shown in figure 4 .



Click the red circle to adjust the drilling format in figure 4. The command definition in the small window is just the same as figure 3. Set all the options ‘OK’, and then click ‘Finish’ to import, as shown in figure 5:


At this time, the drilling file and the track files in the different layer,, please use command ‘move’ to make them aligned with each other. Click EditMove, and push the button ‘W’ on the keyboard, click the mouse to frame the layer which need to move. And at this time, the layer which is framed will be highlighted. Choose a fiducials, press the right button on the mouse and then press the left button, there will be a suppositional framework at the cursor. Move this suppositional framework to the object layer and find the position which is corresponding with the fiducials, then press left button of the mouse and press right button later, at the moment, ‘move’ will be finished, as shown in figure 7:



Click Edit→Copy, push the button ‘W’ on the keyboard to frame the elements which need to be copied. And the selected elements will be highlighted. Press right button of the mouse, then left, move the mouse, then you can see a suppositional framework which move with the cursor. Press the left button of the mouse at the target. Copy and paste to finish this, as sown in figure 8 and 9:



Click Edit → Delete in figure 6, push the ‘W’ button on the keyboard to frame the elements need deleted. And the elements will be highlighted. Press right button of the mouse, then a dialog box will pop up like figure 11, select ‘Yes’, then the selected elements will be deleted. As shown in figure 12(please pay attention to the changes in the circles from figure 10 to 12) .




If you want to check the content in figure 7, double click this layer, then the other layers will be closed. Use button ‘+’, ‘-’ on the numeric keyboard to zoom in and zoom out.
If you need to change the unit, click setting→Unit in figure 13, select imperial or metric as you like.


Dimensional measurement: Info→ Measure→ Point-point, as shown in figure 14 and 15:



Export the modified Gerber data: File → Export → Gerber Data, as shown in figure 16


Click Export→Gerber Data as figure 16 and go into option box as figure 17


Set all the options ‘OK’ and then click ‘Apply’→’OK’, then the Gerber data is exported. And the drilling file in not be exported, click command ‘Export→Drill Data’ in figure 16, as shown in figure 18:


Set all the options ‘OK’ in figure 18, then click ‘Apply’→’OK’, drilling file will be exported.
Three. Introduction of manually importing Gerber data


Click File→ Import →Gerber Data as figure 19 to enter into figure 20

Set all the options ‘OK’, other layers will be imported exclude the drilling layer, and import drilling layer according to figure 21

Click File→ Import→ Drill Data as figure 21 to enter into figure 22

Set all the options ‘OK’ to align drilling with other layers, as shown in figure 6


1.Pay attention to the type of Gerber data, RS-274-X can be imported directly. RS-274-D need manually input D code while imported. So we suggest to turn the Gerber data to the RS-274-X when we transform the PCB into Gerber data. All the layers exclude drilling adopt imperial system 2:5, and drilling adopts metric system 3:3, this format is relatively stable, the D code is not easy to transform when the software CAM read-in.

2. If the Gerber data is not RS-274-X, or automatic imported date shows no lines or the size of the board is more than 500cm, then adjust the format of the imported Gerber data, there are some techniques for your reference:
1)method of exhaustion
For example: X535489Y416899D03* (open the Gerber data in notepad, you can see this number ) It is a six-figure number, either 2:4 or 3:3, if the two figure add up to 6, then it is right. Or you can invoke to use method of exhaustion in M:N(like 2:3, 2:4, ....try one by one).

2)According to the panel size
The size is no more than 20 inch of board, and there is no sboard if it size is more than 20*20inch. Therefore, if the graph is more than 20 inch, maybe there is too many digits before the decimal point. On the contrary, if the graph is heaped near the original point, then there are too many digits after the decimal point.(that is to say, there s little digits before the decimal point).

3)According to the given size
If you know the size of the board, that’s easy to do. Please try ceaselessly, for large graph, then lessen the digits before the decimal point(and the digits after the decimal point become larger at the same time). For small graph, then lessen the digits after the decimal point(and the digits before the decimal point become larger at the same time), if the unit id right, then you need try only once or twice. If you do not know the size of the board, you should find a component on the board. Some components like DIP(double in-line package), PGA package and some plugs, the space between the pins is 0.1 inch(2.54mm), we can confirm the data format according to this.
3.Provide PCB factory with Gerber data and suggest if the data is complete: Gerber data of single sided pcb includes: one circuit layer, one solder make layer, two(or one) legend layer, one drilling layer, one drilling chart, one profile; Gerber data of double sided pcb includes: 2 layers, two solder mask layers, two or one legend layers, one drilling file, one drilling chart, one profile; 4 layers pcb, the Gerber data includes: 4 layers, two solder mask layer, two or one legend layers, one drilling file, one drilling chart, one profile layer(for 4 layer pcb, please remark the order of laminate).
4.The suffix of PCB drilling file is .TXT, if the file is design with 99se, DXP software. And the the drilling file is designed with PADS, then its suffix is: .DRILL.
